Where are you working this year?
Once a week I’m an intern at St. André Bessette, a day shelter for people experiencing homelessness. I spend two days a week at JOIN, another day shelter in the city. I also work at Habitat for Humanity twice a week.
Favorite way to refer to Tivnu participants:
A new skill you’ve learned this year: I’ve learned to cook for a big group of people–I made pasta for over 18 people a few weeks ago.
Something that’s surprised you this year: How accomplished I felt after hiking up a mountain during our first camping trip of the year.
Tivnu: Building Justice is optimistic that our 2020 - 21 Gap Year program will continue as planned, beginning on September 1. We are still accepting applicants, as space permits. Our staff is working remotely but with great excitement as we prepare for internships, learning, living, and enjoying the Pacific Northwest together. We will be implementing whatever modifications are needed to keep ourselves and the people we work with safe and healthy. Now, more than ever, we need to get to work, building a better world.
