Michelle Lackie

Michelle Lackie is in her 13th year at Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life. Since 2003, Michelle has been the Director of Weinberg Tzedek Hillel, helping Tzedek to become a key pillar and value in Hillel. Michelle has worked to reach her goal – to engage students to become active citizens in the world inspired by their Judaism – by creating the largest Jewish volunteer response to Hurricane Katrina, developing online Alternative Break training for Hillel professionals, working in close partnership with Repair the World and Jewish Alternative Break organizations, continual consulting with the Hillel field and launching new initiatives that help campuses engage more students in Tzedek. Michelle is inspired by Tivnu and its ability to create a thoughtful, real-life Jewish experience for young people. The combination of skills development, issue-education, immersive Jewish experience and the meeting of real community needs, will help engender leadership and the values of Tzedek in a new generation of Jewish leaders.
