Ira Wagner

Ira moved to Portland in 2022 from Bethesda, Maryland where he had lived for 36 years. His work life was in corporate finance with the first 10 years arranging financing for clients and the last 20 years working for an investment company called American Capital. He retired in 2015. For the 10 years before retirement and since 2015 he was and is actively involved with numerous non-profit organizations – some Jewish, some secular. He is currently the Chair of the Board of the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts and is on the Board of the Friends of the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism in Tel Aviv. He believes in the mission of Tivnu and would have personally benefited from a gap year at Tivnu after graduating high school in 1970.
