Carolyn Yashari Becher
Carolyn grew up in Pottstown, Pennsylvania as the daughter of Iranian immigrants and now lives in Los Angeles. She earned her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and spent a life-changing year at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she deepened her connection to her family and heritage. She received her J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where she was an Equal Justice America Fellow at Bet Tzedek Legal Services, a Give 35 Public Service Award recipient, and President of the Jewish Law Students Association.
Carolyn’s career has centered on expanding opportunity and strengthening mission-driven organizations. She began in private legal practice and later served as Executive Director and Board Member of the Neuromuscular Disease Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for GNE Myopathy, a rare disease disproportionately affecting Persian Jews, and as founding Board Chair of the New Los Angeles Charter School.
She is also the co-founder of HopSkipDrive, the leading supplemental student transportation provider in the U.S., supporting more than 13,500 schools across 17 states. In roles including Chief Operating Officer, General Counsel, and Head of People, she built systems, teams, and culture to support rapid growth while prioritizing safety and care. She now consults with organizations on a variety of strategic and operational matters.
Carolyn is a member of the IKAR community in Los Angeles. She is married to Robert Becher and finds deep meaning in supporting their three daughters as they enter and navigate adulthood. She is honored to bring her experience in growing organizations and removing barriers to opportunity to Tivnu.
