Susan Cohen is a physician trained in internal medicine and the specialty of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is an Associate Professor at NYU School of Medicine and is the Director of the Palliative Care Program at Bellevue Hospital. Through her work, Susan connects to issues of social justice given her practice at our nation’s oldest public hospital serving the most diverse and vulnerable New Yorkers.
Susan along with her husband David are the proud parents of three amazing young people, Jeremy (13), Lily (16) and Sam (19) who is a recent Tivnu participant. Susan appreciates the honor of serving on the Tivnu board as it allows her to reach others who value the transformative learning and growth experiences Tivnu offers.
Tivnu: Building Justice is optimistic that our 2020 - 21 Gap Year program will continue as planned, beginning on September 1. We are still accepting applicants, as space permits. Our staff is working remotely but with great excitement as we prepare for internships, learning, living, and enjoying the Pacific Northwest together. We will be implementing whatever modifications are needed to keep ourselves and the people we work with safe and healthy. Now, more than ever, we need to get to work, building a better world.
