A West Coast transplant, Ellie recently graduated from Kalamazoo College with a degree in Religion. She has also spent time living in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Dakar, Senegal. Ellie feels lucky to have been part of various Jewish communities that made her feel at home, inspired, and called to action, including her hometown chavurah, Temple Sholom of Cincinnati, the Nesiya Institute, and her campus Hillel. She has also had wonderful mentors who taught her to appreciate good listening, brave storytelling and passionate work.
The research projects she completed in Kalamazoo and Dakar both relate to religious education, a special interest of hers. Work and learning she has done in an interfaith context have also been impactful. Recent things she’s proud to have worked on include a justice-themed Passover haggadah and an ongoing collaboration between her campus choral groups and a local children’s choir. She is excited to join Tivnu and help participants build community, explore Jewish life, and expand their capacities to work for justice.
